This Play Was Never About Noses

An ensemble-driven, world premiere adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac from Morgan Moffitt.

‘I glory in this nose of mine, for a great nose indicates a great man.’

One of theatre’s most famous love triangles: a swordsman with a sharp tongue, a sweet if slow-witted soldier, and a woman searching for poetry in her life. Westbury Arts in collaboration with EastLine Theater presents the world premiere of This Play Was Never About Noses by Long Island playwright Morgan Moffitt. This ensemble-driven adaptation of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac opened at the new Westbury performance space in March of 2022.

Anjor’s Note:

Morgan created such an interesting world for us all to play in. Instead of everyone having simply one role, we all switched roles at the start of each act, and occasionally within the act itself if we were playing ensemble parts. I myself played Le Bret, Roxane, a solider, and De Guiche. Going from a romantic roles, to a villainous one, and everything in between was a challenge—but one that was so rewarding. Finding the thread through all of the characters in various acts and creating an arc was so rewarding.
