Hi! I'm Anjor.
Hi! I'm Anjor.
I’m a creative with a lot of different hats—actor, musician, dancer, performer, writer, photographer, and more.
A little about me…
Once Upon A Time
there was a young girl who obsessed with stories. Spoiler alert—that little girl was me.
(I bet you saw that coming, though. You’re smart.)
I was only two, three, four years old, and I’d beg and beg my mom for stories all the time; I wanted her to tell me stories before bed, tell me stories during the day—she’d even bribe me to take medicine by promising to tell me a story after.
Growing up in a house filled with music, films, books, and, most importantly, stories, I was fascinated by stories and storytelling at a young age. By four, I was taking Hindustani classical voice lessons, by five I was in tap, ballet, and jazz, and before long, I was in every choir, orchestra, community theatre show, and ensemble group possible. When I wasn’t being shuffled from one class to another, I’d spend hours in front of our old desktop computer, typing up stories, creating entire worlds that lived on a Microsoft Word document—and I was only ten, so I didn’t really know how to type, so it took ages. Still, I couldn’t be deterred; the characters demanded I tell their stories, so I had to write them all out.
As the years have gone by, I’ve experimented and played with that very same art, and it is my life blood. These days, I create worlds with the help of my cast mates, a director, and the pages on a script. I’ll put pen to paper—er, virtual pen to virtual paper, that is—and jot down essays that range from thoughts on the latest in pop culture, to short, memoir-style essays, and there’s an original novel I’m working on as well, because the characters in your head don’t go away, they just grow up.
A thread that runs through all of my passions, one of the reasons I keep coming back, is the love of telling stories. I love creating authentic, genuine worlds with other artists, creatives who I can trust and collaborate with. To me, creating art and building community are synonymous, for each and every piece of art we make, we truly do make together, inviting in each other.
After all, isn’t all art coming from somewhere inside us that wants to be heard? Isn’t all art an effort to understand ourselves—and, in the process, understand each other?
So, I invite you to mosey on around this website, get a taste of a bit of the art I’ve created, and an idea for where I want to go. If you feel so inclined, feel free to shoot me an email or holler at me from over on Instagram—I’d love nothing more than to connect and create together.
We’re all just telling each other stories in the end, aren’t we?
